West Canada Creek Help by JC on Tue, Jul 20
I have been travelling to West Canada Creek once a year from West Virginia for the past 10 years and have had varying levels of success. I am sure I have probably ran into to some of you along the way over the years.
I usually am there the last week of July and will be there this Sat. through next week. I was at WC last year a few weeks earlier and the Auger Caddis was hatching and fish were everywhere but extremely picky. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be working next week? It seems almost every year it is something different.
I have grown to love this stream over the past 10 years and would appreciate any help in making next week successful. Thank you. JC

| I don't know how I typed Auger. They were Alder Caddis. Thx. | |

| While you are here there will be little top water action - it has been very hot all summer & we are weeks ahead of schedule. If you fish on top use gray body & brown winged caddis in #16. Also consider using beetles & ants. But the best bet is to fish below using the old standby Prince nymph with another slightly smaller trailer nymph following behind. | |

| Blue wing olives were coming off last night. Think small. I've had great luck using a size 18 dry with a size 20 or 22 emerger tie in at the hook bend of the dry. use about 18" of 6X for the trainer. There are a few Iso's coming off and the fish love compra's in a motoled brown in size 18 or 20. Fish the fastest water you can find. |
