Muskie Flies by Hugh Henderson on Fri, Jun 25

Well I know that Muskie fishing with a fly rod is not the largest desire for many trout fly fishermen. What I am wondering is if anybody has some ideas on Muskie Flies.

If anyone knows any large flies, that nobody would usually ever think to use let me know about them. I'm interested in tying some up before my Muskie Fishing trip down in Pennsylvania.

Thank you,
Hugh

Wayne @ the Troutfitter has flies and can point you in a good direction. I will tell you what I know. Large 2/0 and bigger, synthetic materials so as not to soak up water and make it easier to cast. Barry Reynolds wrote 2 books on flyfishing for pike and muskie. There are fly suggestions and recipes there if you tie your own or can get a buddy to tie for you. Deceivers seem to be popular. Baitfish imitations and probably perch and sunfish also. Maybe try contacting a flyshop in the area you are going to and see what they have to say also.
