Salmon River - brown trout / nymphs by Tom on Wed, Jun 2
1st I should ask are the browns still in the SR and are they hard to find? I plan on going up to the SR within the next couple of weeks and try my luck nymph fishing, should there be any specific type I should be fishing?

| Most of the brown have headed back to the lake by now, How ever the should still be the browns that got stocked by the DEC and the fish hatchery. if your up for the challenge there should be some Summer run Skamaina steelhead in the river, also Atlantic Salmon should be showing up in a few weeks. I would fish with big Stoneflies, Black and brown are good colors, also woolly buggers are good fish them on the swing. good luck and let me know how you did. I am thinking about headding up that way myself soon. | |

| I hit the Salmon River yesterday on my way back from my annual Adirondack trip. I did land some decent smallmouth Bass around the trestle pool... They fought well enough for me to forget about the trout I caught in the Ausable and Oswegatchie (sp?) Rivers. Bass caught on large dragon fly nymphs. | |
