West Canada Pulsing by LyNcH on Mon, May 17
This is becoming frustrating. Is it me or is the power company pulsing the flows wider this year than in the past? 400cfs at night and jack it up to 1500 during the day? Can't they balence this out a little and/or have the lower flows during the day. I know they don't care about the angler, but I can't wait to get up there but won't at these daytime flows.

| Has always been a problem with the West Canada - Hydro is the easiest type of power plant to get on and off line quickly - and if we remember from 7th grade science - can't store electricity - When it's produced it has to be used... and electric demands are highest during daylight hours They could learn something from the operators of the dam on the Salmon River - but it's economics... Plenty of out of state people fish there and money can be made from them - This added the necessary pressure to make releases fishermen friendly. Us 'lil 'ole upstate trout fish'en folk don't count for much... as you know - at optimum levels the West Canada is a dream... |

| The river has fished poorly even though there have been some surprisingly large hatches - march browns / hendricksons & caddis but the daily flow is nearly armpit there is a new lawsuit between the State & water authority & electric company as well as meeting of the power company executives with the Riverkeepers association - do not hold your breath |
