smelt in the finger lakes and adirondacks by greg on Sun, Apr 11
I'm looking to go smelt fishing for the first time with my ten year old. I know there are still active runs in central adks and in the finger lakes, but I can't find any resources that tell me where. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you.

| I live near Ithaca and when the smelt are running, there are always smelters in Taughannock Park. Taughannock Park is located on the west side of Cayuga Lake. Just take Route 89 north about 7 miles from downtown Ithaca. | |

| Greg, according to a posting on another website, there are some smelt in Taughannock right now. I haven't been up there to confirm it myself however. I don't know how long of a trip it is for you to Ithaca. It may be worth a shot depending on far you have to travel |
