Re: extremely frustrating - Better days ahead! by Jim Roz on Tue, Mar 30 (46583)
Better days are just around the corner! - Remember, trout are cold blooded critters - I have great hope that our local streams did indeed winter over some fish - Hey - the suckers and chubs seem to make it - the trout will too. I'm no fresh water biologist - but with water temps in the low to mid 30's - fish aren't going to eat much, move at all to munch on our well conceived facsimiles of real food, or do anything much but survive till the pick'ens get better and the water warms! A day along a stream is enhanced by catching a few fish - I count myself lucky if I can get out and exercise my arm with at least hope that I may just feel a wiggle...

Thanks guys! You have all made me feel much more confident in this game of rouette we all call trout fishing. I Just recently got a fly pole for x-mas and im learning slowly. Been catching trout on a reel for a few years now but thought I would take on the fly. Ironic though seems today worms might be our best bet on this beautiful opening day. Back to the basics with this past rain...Good luck all, see you out there!
