Ninemile scuds by Joe Sicherman on Wed, Feb 24

I am new to fly tying and have been tying quite a few NMS with the basic just dubbing and a beadhead but was thinking that it might not have enough detail to it...i am tying them just like the wayfarer shop tyes them buti am just curious if it would make a difference with detail like a flashback and ribbing or something. any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks

I have used small strips of plastic (ziplock bags, etc)to tie the shell of the scud. I use clear light monofiliment thread to make the shell look segmented.

light olive rabbit fur is all you need. I would suggest adding a tad bit of color to the front or rear, even if it's just a bright thread head, just to set them apart from the bazillion naturals.
